Wisconsin Public Radio launching 2 new networks

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- On Tuesday, Wisconsin Public Radio visited La Crosse to announce the launch of two new networks.

Starting May 20, the company is splitting up their news and radio into two separate networks instead of them co-existing as they did in the previous system.

With the new changes, they are also making the platforms more widely accessible through their website and mobile app.

Sarah Ashworth is the Director of WPR, she says that the company is making the changes to stay with the times.

"We know that broadcast listenership is declining, but more and more people are listening to online audio or listening on demand," said Ashworth.

"So, we thought about that as we built the networks, and also making it easier for people to find news content on one network, and music on another."

She added that the new changes will allow more time to feature local artists on the music network.
