City of La Crosse teaches kids about public works with Touch a Truck

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- On Thursday, the City of La Crosse held their annual Touch a Truck event in celebration of National Public Works week.

The program educates children about public works by giving them an up-close look at the vehicles that keep the city running.

They got a chance to check out fire trucks, city busses, water tankers and more.

Jared Greeno is the Wastewater Superintendent of La Crosse, he said the event is a fun way to educate the little ones.

"They physically can put their hands on these trucks, educates them a little bit in what public works is all about. But it's a fun day, you know, to get out and explore public works and those type of services that the city provides," said Greeno.

Touch a Truck was not exclusively for children, anyone from the community was free to attend.
