New housing development coming to Viroqua

VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) -- Construction is underway for a new mixed-use housing development in Viroqua.

The Main Street Apartments project will provide 65 low-income housing units including 11 three-bedroom townhomes.

The City of Viroqua is leasing a portion of the building to provide affordable childcare for the community. There is also room for two retail spaces.

Jake Victor is the Vice President of Development for North Point Development.  At the project's ground-breaking ceremony Thursday afternoon, he said they enjoyed working with the city.

"It was so much fun to work with the folks here in the City of Viroqua.  We were able to incorporate pretty much everything that they asked for besides a sports court which, for those there that did ask for that, hopefully that'll come in a phase two," said Victor.

The entire project costs $28 million dollars to build. It is scheduled to be completed summer of 2025.
