Loggers advance to Great Plains championship game

After entering the postseason with the worst record of remaining teams La Crosse was the lone squad to sweep their opening series.

The bats were hot early once again for the Loggers as they plated six runs in the first three innings, giving themselves some room for error as Duluth scored three in the ninth and brought the winning run to the plate.

In total the visitors sent out 16 hits compared to the Huskies' five.

Tyler Albanese pitched a gem of a game for La Crosse allowing just four hits and three runs in almost seven innings of work. He was the winning pitcher while Duluth's Isaac Rohde allowed seven runs in four innings of action, taking the loss.

The Loggers will get the day off Tuesday as they await the winner of the St. Cloud Rox and the Wilmar Stingers.

La Crosse is searching for their first Northwoods League championship since 2012.
