    Sparta school board to ask voters for $87 million high school renovation referendum

    SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) -- The school board in Sparta voted to put a facilities referendum on the November ballot.

    According to a school district release, the Sparta school board voted unanimously on Monday to ask voters for $87 million to renovate and add to Sparta High School.

    The building project would involve, "construction of an addition and renovations to Sparta High School; demolition of a portion of the current high school building; renovations, site improvements and capital maintenance at District buildings, including ADA, safety and security upgrades; and acquisition of related furnishings, fixtures, technology and equipment," according to the release.

    Informational sessions are set for the following dates and locations:

    • September 25 - 6:00 p.m., Sparta High School
    • October 15 - 9:00 a.m., Sparta American Legion
    • October 21 - 6:00 p.m., Sparta High School
