Governor Evers highlights road and bridge improvements

DEWHURTS, Wis. (WKBT) -- Gov. Tony Evers visited Schofield and Merrillan today to highlight funding awarded for local Wisconsin road and bridge improvement projects.

The Surface Transportation Program funding will provide more than $200 million for over 150 local road and bridge projects across Wisconsin.

This round of funding is significantly greater than previous cycles due to the increase in federal funds available through Joe Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill.

“When I took office, I talked a lot about fixing the damn roads. Thanks to our federal partners, especially President Biden and Vice President Harris, along with the legislature in D.C., we’re able to make it happen," said Evers.

Evers has already improved 74,000 miles of roads throughout the state since taking office.
