'Stuff the Bus' campaign helps students in need

LA CROSSE (WKBT) Community generosity once again helped a News 8 tradition provide school supplies for kids in need.

This was our third stuff the bus campaign. This year we teamed up with Coulee Bank, YMCA and Boys and Girls club to collect school supply donations for local children in need.

Our crews set up donation stations at the La Crosse and Onalaska Walmart from 8 am to 6 pm today.

People donated backpacks, notebooks, markers, hygiene products and much more.

Ashley Noelke says she donates every year to help the community and its students prepare for the upcoming school year.

"One way to set up students for success is for them to have their basic needs met and also their school supplies," she said. "That's just one way we

can help out the community and give it forward."

There will be distribution events next week. the YMCA's distribution event will be held on Saturday August 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the Boys & Girls Club will host theirs at the Amie l. Mathy club on Tuesday August 20 from 5 to 7 p.m.
