    Bright Horizons Emergency Management Course

VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) -- Several local counties are participating in a first-of-its-kind exercise on crisis recovery.

Bright Horizons is a four-week emergency management exercise course through Wisconsin Emergency Management.

Vernon and Jackson County agencies joined the program to collaborate on ways to better serve communities that went through a disaster.

This week's exercise was about severe flooding recovery.

Vernon County's director of Emergency Management said the program would help local agencies be better prepared to have resources in place when they were needed most.

"We've seen a lot of flooding here just with the train we have here in our county. you know, there's a lot of people accustomed to it, sort of speaking, and now neighbors help neighbors, but we want to be able to have other resources available there, too," said Brandon Larson.

Around 250 participants were involved in the program.
