Warmer Wednesday before showers return on Thursday

W H AT WE ARE TRACKING: Temperatures climb back to the low-80s until a cold front brings showers and chilly conditions later in the week.

NEXT 24 HRS: Skies remain clear overnight, minus some light haze from smoke aloft. Temperatures will bell into the upper 40s to middle 50s as winds turn around and increase from the south. These south winds increase on Wednesday, leading to a warmer afternoon (upper 70s to middle 80s)

LOOKING AHEAD: A cold front system passes through the region late Thursday, resulting in a significant temperature drop for Friday and the weekend (60s). Rain chances also increase with this frontal passage on Thursday, but rain amounts and the severe risk look low. Although a few showers are possible near or northeast of Eau Claire on Friday, most areas will remain dry and breezy on Friday and through the weekend. With clear skies and a very unusually cool airmass overhead, some areas may see their first frost of the season over the weekend. The overall weather pattern turns warm and dry for the following work week, with high temperatures returning well into the 80s.
