When it comes to electric vehicles (EVs), potential range degradation over time and use has haunted owners for what seems like an eternity. However, as battery technology improves, and so does EV longevity, these fears can slowly be phased out. For instance, the YouTube channel AutoTrader has been documenting a Tesla Model S from 2016 with over 430,000 miles on the clock from to its eight years of service as an airport taxi. Surprisingly, the car has been able to pull this off without requiring a battery or motor replacement of any kind.

If you've been waiting for a good reason to buy a Tesla, recent price cuts are about as good an excuse as any, with the Tesla Model Y now starting at $42,990 for the rear-wheel drive base model before tax credits and options. There are more powerful models in the lineup, and the range as a whole benefits from much cheaper prices for 2024, although there was an increase in April for the Model Y, specifically. The automaker has had various ups and downs with pricing - remember, the entry-level model started at $41,440 in 2021 before hitting a ridiculous peak of $65,990 in 2022.
