The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust has announced a $10.6 million grant to the Wilcox Medical Center in Kauai for diagnostic and radiology equipment. Awarded through the trust’s Rural Healthcare Program, the grant will enable the medical center to purchase a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine and renovate its existing MRI treatment space. In addition, the funding will enable the center to renovate its X-ray/fluoroscopy exam room, upgrade its existing X-ray room to create Kauai’s first interventional radiology suite, and establish two residency sleep rooms for students of the Family Medicine Residency Program through the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa’s John A. Burns School of Medicine.
