Board approves revocable permit for Nā ʻAikāne o Maui’s Community Resource Center in Lahaina
The Board of Land and Natural Resources voted unanimously to issue an after-the-fact revocable permit to Nā ʻAikāne o Maui, Inc. (NAOMI) for its Community Resource Center, which was destroyed in the Lahaina wildfires. In its vote on Friday, June 28, the board also voted to change the rent from $40 per month to gratis (free).
Maui residents encouraged to participate in Ke Ola Hou Resiliency Center online survey
Maui residents are invited to complete an online survey to help in the development and future programming of Ke Ola Hou Resiliency Center, which will assist the Lahaina community with recovery services in the aftermath of the 2023 fires. Men arrested for alleged illegal hunting near Oprah's Hawaii home
Two 19-year-olds were arrested for allegedly hunting illegally at night on a public road within media maven Oprah Winfrey's Hawaii property, authorities said on Monday. Luke Allen and Ty Munoz, both of Maui, were allegedly using a spotlight for hunting purposes when they were stopped by officers from Hawaii's Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement just before midnight on Friday, June 21.
