If you follow professional bass fishing, you likely know that Mark Zona is “retiring” from his position as host of Bassmaster LIVE. On one hand I’m happy for him. It’s something he’s talked about for a couple of years. He’s wanted to free up more time to work on his highly rated Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show and expand his online presence.

Every time my brother and I put our boats in the water, our goal is to win the tournament. It sounds simple, but at the top levels of the sport it’s remarkably difficult. Many great competitors, even Angler of the Year winners, have fished a whole career and won one or two, or none at all. My recent victory at the St. Lawrence River was special simply because Bassmaster Elite Series victories are so challenging, but several other things made it extra meaningful.

A worker died Aug. 5 when the crane he was operating toppled at a wind farm construction site in remote Natrona County, state and local officials say. The victim, John William Hoffpauir, Jr., 55, of Houma, Louisiana, was working as a crane operator at the Cedar Springs wind energy construction site north of Casper and Glenrock under the control of Blattner Energy at the time of the accident.
