An anti-transgender law signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis put the health of 95,000 Floridians at risk–including hundreds of Walt Disney World Resort cast members. In May of 2023, DeSantis signed Senate Bill 254. The law prohibited gender-affirming care for anyone under 18 but also placed strict restrictions on adult transgender health care. Even though a federal judge struck down the law last month, it stoked fear and disorder among tens of thousands of medical professionals and transgender Floridians.

A 71-year-old Florida man is under arrest after police say he lassoed an alligator, tied it to a fence, and called 911 to report it.The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert Colin on July 31 in Cape Canaveral, Florida, an hour outside of Orlando. Colin told police he arrived at a local canal with plans to capture an alligator he had spotted, according to the arrest affidavit. A Florida senior citizen was arrested after lassoing a 9-foot gator and tying it up to a handrail before bolting, authorities said. 

Robert Colin, 71, was slapped with a felony charge for illegally endangering an alligator, according to an affidavit obtained by clickorlando.com. 

He is accused of using a nylon rope to lasso the gator around its upper jaw before he tied it to a handrail above a canal in his home town of Cape Canaveral, according to sheriff’s deputies.
