( NewsNation ) — After three Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna, Austria, were canceled following arrests over an apparent plot to launch an attack on the event, people are being reminded of a 2019 interview where Swift called the idea of an attack at one of her concerts “her biggest fear.”

For Swift’s 30th birthday, she was interviewed by Elle fashion magazine about 30 things she’s learned before turning 30. In response to one question, Swift said she was “terrified” to go on tour following other attacks on concerts like the Manchester Arena bombing and the Las Vegas concert shooting .

“I didn’t know how we were going to keep 3 million fans safe over seven months,” Swift said. “There was a tremendous amount of planning, expense and effort put into keeping my fans safe.”

On Wednesday, organizers for the Vienna stop on Swift’s Eras Tour canceled her upcoming shows there because authorities said they had arrested two suspected extremists who appeared to be inspired by the Islamic State group and al-Qaida. Police said they found bomb-making materials in one of the suspect’s homes.

In the interview, Swift expressed that although her fear of violence has continued into her personal life, she does not let it control her.

“Every day I try to remind myself of the good in the world, the love I’ve witnessed, and the faith I have in humanity,” Swift said. “We have to live bravely in order to truly feel alive, and that means not being ruled by our greatest fears.”
