NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three men believed to be gang members from Texas were taken into custody Wednesday after a robbery attempt in Kingston Springs, Tennessee.

The incident began around 6 p.m. near East Kingston Springs Road and Luyben Hill Road.

A homeowner called 911 and said someone had just tried to rob her but she fired a shot at the suspect’s vehicle as they fled. A second 911 caller reported they heard the gunshot and saw a white sedan driving away.

Officers soon found the vehicle in the 100 block of Hillcrest Road. Three men ran from the car as an officer approached the vehicle.

Kingston Springs officers, Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office deputies, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Tennessee State Parks employees helped established a perimeter to contain the suspects. With support from helicopters provided by both Metro police and THP, ground units coordinated a search and took the men into custody.

The men were identified by Kingston Springs police as gang members from Houston, Texas who had been on a crime spree along Interstate 40, including a armed robbery attempt of an ATM employee at a Nashville bank.

The investigation and the suspects have been handed over to the FBI.

    No additional information was released.
