(NEXSTAR) – Home security company ADT revealed that a recent cybersecurity incident exposed some customer information, according to a regulatory filing published Wednesday.

ADT said that “unauthorized actors illegally accessed certain databases” of customer order information and stole some information that included email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses.

The company said only a “small percentage” of its roughly 6 million subscribers were affected, adding that the investigation was ongoing.

After reaching out for more information Thursday, a spokesperson for a third party agency told Nexstar on behalf of ADT “We can confirm that none of our customers’ home security systems were compromised and no personally sensitive information [such as] credit card data, or banking information was accessed.”

The spokesperson declined to answer questions about how ADT learned of the breach, but offered the following general guidance for subscribers:

“Our customers’ privacy and security is our utmost priority, and we have taken several steps to help keep their information safe, including immediately activating rigorous cybersecurity protocols,” the company said in a statement.
