( NewsNation ) — California woman Bryn Spejcher says she is “so sorry” after fatally stabbing a man during an episode of cannabis-induced psychosis in 2018.

“There’s no way I would have ever hurt him,” Spejcher said during an emotional Friday interview on NewsNation’s “Banfield.” “I am just so sorry that he went through that pain.”

After taking several hits of weed via a bong, Spejcher stabbed her friend Chad O’Melia 108 times. She later stabbed her dog and herself.

Police say when they arrived, it took four shocks from a Taser and nine hits from a baton to wrestle the knife out of Spejcher hands. The incident was captured on bodycam footage.

Spejcher maintains she never knew what she was doing.

“I didn’t find out that he passed until days later, when I woke up from the hospital,” Spejcher said.

Spejcher was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter; a judge sentenced her to two years probation and 100 hours of community service.

Earlier this year, O’Melia’s father expressed frustration over the sentencing during an interview on “Banfield.”

“Every day, I do think about Chad and his family and his friends,” Spejcher said. “I am so sorry for their unthinkable loss and the immense pain they will endure forever.”

Spejcher has seen multiple therapists since the killing and credits her family, friends and faith for helping her deal with the trauma.

She is now working with an organization to raise awareness about cannabis-induced psychosis and the harm that could come with it.
