    Debby Brings Widespread Road Closures to Southwest Florida

    Charlotte County, FL - Hurricane Debby has caused significant flooding in Charlotte, Collier and Lee counties, leading to numerous road closures.

    CHARLOTTE COUNTY
    The Punta Gorda Police Department has advised motorists to avoid the following areas due to hazardous conditions:

    • All streets east and west of U.S. 41 are closed.
    • The below roads are closed or partially impassable:
      • Nesbit Street
      • Marion Avenue
      • Berry Street
      • Olympia Avenue
      • Chasteen Street
      • Wood Street
      • Brown Street
      • MLK Boulevard
      • Milus Street
      • Mary Street
      • Taylor Street
      • North Beach Road


    COLLIER COUNTY
    Collier County residents are also being urged to stay off the roads if possible due to widespread flooding.

    Emergency crews are working to assess the situation.

    • Bridge closures: The S.S. Jolley Bridge has no accessible exits and the Goodland Bridge is closed.
    • Numerous roads throughout Collier County are flooded or impassable, including:
      • Whispering Pine
      • Central Avenue
      • Parkshore Drive
      • 8th Avenue North
      • Harbour Drive
      • Crayton Road
      • Pine Grove
      • 32nd and 33rd Avenue South Beach Accesses
      • 10th Street South
      • Central Avenue
      • 13th Avenue South
      • 5th Avenue South
      • Gulf Shore Boulevard North and South
      • 8th Street North
      • Seagate Drive
      • Springline
      • Tin City
      • Gulf Shore Boulevard South
      • U.S. 41 North
      • 9th Avenue North
      • 14th Avenue North
      • San Marco Road.


    LEE COUNTY
    Lee County is also experiencing flooding and road closures due to Hurricane Debby.

    The northbound lanes of the Edison Bridge and portions of First Street are closed.

    Numerous roads throughout Fort Myers Beach are also impassable.

    Residents in all three counties are advised to monitor local news for updates and to avoid driving through flooded areas.
