Collier County, FL - A Southwest Florida man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for endangering the lives of law enforcement officers during a high-speed chase last year.

According to reports, the chase occurred in August of 2023 when 24-year-old Emmanuel Reed led deputies on a high-speed chase that ended with him crashing into two Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) patrol cars.

CCSO reports that deputies responded to reports of a possible stolen silver Ford Fusion traveling south on Carson Road in Immokalee.

A deputy patrolled the parking lot of the Ashley Apartments in Immokalee and saw the suspected vehicle back into a parking spot before driving away when the deputy approached the car.

The deputy activated the sirens, but Reed continued speeding, eventually losing control of the car and colliding with a wooden fence.

Reed then moved to the vehicle's passenger seat and tried to flee on foot, but returned to the driver seat and reversed, intentionally hitting a marked patrol car with its lights and sirens active.

He then drove forward and hit another marked patrol car with its lights and sirens active.

Reed then became stuck in a roadside ditch and refused to exit the vehicle, forcing deputies to shatter the driver-side window and forcefully remove him.

Two deputies sustained minor injuries during the chase and subsequent accident.

Court records show Reed pleaded no contest to charges of fleeing and eluding, aggravated battery on law enforcement, and grand theft auto.

A Collier County Circuit judge sentenced Reed to 14 years in prison.
