Miami, FL - A suspect has been arrested after kidnapping a rideshare driver at gunpoint in Texas and forcing them to drive to South Florida.

The victim, whose gender has not been revealed, was picked up by the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Miguel Pastran Hernandez, in Arlington, Texas.

Pastran Hernandez allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened the driver, forcing them to drive to Florida.

The ordeal lasted for several days, with the driver being held captive and forced to follow Pastran Hernandez's orders.

During the journey, Pastran Hernandez ordered the driver to call their children and pretend to be on a business trip to avoid suspicion.

The driver managed to escape and seek help at a Dollar General store in Hialeah.

Authorities located Pastran Hernandez and arrested him on charges of kidnapping, carjacking, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

During the investigation, authorities learned Pastran Hernandez had planned to kidnap another victim in South Florida.

Investigators say Pastran Hernandez surveyed a potential target and was preparing to carry out the abduction when the driver escaped.

He is being held in federal custody pending a pretrial detention hearing.
