Since the first day of school, Miami-Dade has issued more than 11,500 school bus zone violations, 1600 per day.

That's more in two weeks than the 10,000 warnings issued during the month-long test period.

There seems to be some confusion for drivers illegally passing school buses with flashing lights and an extended stop arm.

Some blow right through the zone, others do stop at the flashing sign, wait for kids to cross in front of their car, then drive off.

The footage even shows drivers failing to stop for children crossing the roadway.

Know the law: "If you are on a two-way street and the bus stop arm is out, you must stop and remain stopped until the flashing sign is no longer deployed. This applies to traffic traveling in both directions except if there is a raised median.

All one thousand Miami-Dade County school buses are equipped with cameras using AI technology known as "AVA” allowing police to enforce automatic $225 citations for those who pass illegally.
