MoDoT truck overturns near Newtonia, two to hospital

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) — About 9:30 a.m. Tuesday reports of a rollover dump truck crash near Mo-86 and Terrill Road alerted NCCC.

Midway Fire, Newton County Deputies, Newton County Ambulance responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

Two occupants of the dump truck, one was trapped for a short time. They were both transported to a Joplin area hospital suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

It is a MoDOT dump truck carrying hot mix for repaving nearby.

Missouri State Highway Patrol are investigating. The north to westbound truck barely dropped tires off the right side of the roadway and it could not recover overturning into the ditch.

What took the recovery a long time? The overturned dump truck was caught on the culvert and a concrete box that allows the runoff creek to run beneath Mo-86.

Thomas Towing recovered the vehicle and removed the debris. This exact location we have been here many times when crashes have occurred.
