(KRON) –  The San Rafael Police Department arrested a man allegedly in possession of drugs for sale driving a stolen vehicle.

The arrest occurred on Sunday. A San Rafael police officer noticed a masked individual wearing rubber gloves driving a vehicle in the area of Anderson Drive and Irwin Street. The driver’s registration was two months past due and the driver was speeding, according to police.

The officer conducted a traffic stop, where he discovered the driver had a felony warrant for weapon violations out of Sonoma County.

The driver was subsequently arrested. Police said the officers located a large quantity of methamphetamine, several plastic bags and a digital scale.

San Rafael PD said they also located an improvised key used to steal cars. The suspect was not the owner of the vehicle but had the owner’s driver’s license and credit cards, according to police. The officer contacted the car’s owner and they were unaware their vehicle was stolen.

    • felony possession of drugs for sale
    • felony possession of a stolen vehicle
    • possession of burglary tools
    • possession of drug paraphernalia
    • possession of stolen credit cards
