49ers, Jets Swap Star Players In This Massive Trade Proposal

Brandon Aiyuk has requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers . Haason Reddick has requested a trade from the New York Jets .

Is there a match here?

Probably not, but that won’t stop people from speculating.

Take Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox , for instance.

Knox proposes that the Jets trade Reddick, rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley and a 2025 second-round draft pick to the 49ers in exchange for Aiyuk.

This would provide New York with an incredible weapon for Aaron Rodgers and would give the Jets one of the best receiver tandems in football in the form of Aiyuk and Garrett Wilson.

Meanwhile, San Francisco would land one of the league’s best pass rushers in Reddick to pair alongside of Nick Bosa, giving the Niners a dynamic duo of their own. The 49ers would also be receiving a young wide out with potential in Corley.

Will the 49ers and Jets really move their star players?

Here’s the thing: the 49ers and Jets will probably hold on to their respective star players.

San Francisco has apparently already begun re-negotiating with Aiyuk on a long-term deal, which is why the trade chatter surrounding Aiyuk has quieted down the past couple of days.

Meanwhile, New York general manager Joe Douglas has already informed Reddick that he will not be dealt, so this is all probably much ado about nothing (at least in terms of trade rumors).

Both Aiyuk and Reddick are prepared to enter the final years of their respective deals.

Their situations are certainly quite different, as Aiyuk was originally drafted by the 49ers in 2020. Meanwhile, the Jets just acquired Reddick in a trade of their own earlier this offseason. The problem is that Reddick has not reported to training camp.

You have to figure that San Francisco and New York will both come to terms with their guys. Both teams are trying to win a Super Bowl. The 49ers obviously stand a better chance of achieving that with Aiyuk, and the Jets certainly do with Reddick.

It may look messy right now, but the chances of a trade for either club seem relatively slim.

Of course, there are only a few weeks remaining until the start of the regular season, so the 49ers and Jets better both get moving if they want to have their star players available for Week 1.
