After a poor 2023 season, Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals are hoping to continue with their rebuild and get better in 2024. Due to the poor season, the Cardinals had the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft.
In the draft, the Cardinals were able to select Marvin Harrison Jr. after three quarterbacks went in a row. This was good news for Murray, who, like his team. is hoping to prove himself this season.
The 27-year-old missed nine games last season as he was returning from ACL surgery. The results were mixed for the quarterback. Last season, Murray totaled 10 touchdowns passes, five interceptions, 1,799 passing yards, and a QBR of 47.2.
For Murray, the 2023 season was hard to judge him. He was returning from a torn ACL and was playing for a team that wasn’t very good. However, the former No. 1 overall pick was able to knock off some of the rust from missing time and should be full steam ahead for 2024.
This is a massive upcoming season for Murray, as there has been discussions that he might not be the guy in Arizona. Despite such high expectations coming out of college, Murray has played in just one playoff game so far in his career.
This could be a make-or-break season for Kyler Murray
If Murray struggles or underperforms once again this season, his time in Arizona could come to an end. A poor season from the University of Oklahoma product would likely result in another top-five pick for the Cardinals, and they would more than likely be pressured to pursue a quarterback.
Murray should be encouraged going into the season, as he is healthy and has a great new weapon. The addition of Harrison will give Murray one of the best young wide receivers in the league. Harrison is going to be capable of totaling 1,000 receiving yards as a rookie, and Murray will need a player like that.
As we project what Murray can accomplish in 2024, there are some concerning trends from the last three seasons. Murray came into the league and played very well right away. However, he has struggled of late compared to his first two seasons.
Furthermore, with this being a make-or-break year for Murray, he will need to be focused and perform like we’ve seen him do in the past.
Kyler Murray can put stress on a defense with both his arm and with his legs. If he wants to prove himself a starter in the league, he will need to use both.
2024 Prediction: 3,900 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 400 rushing yards, and four rushing touchdowns.
