2 Denver Broncos Players Most Likely To Be Traded In 2024

The Denver Broncos kicked off the preseason with a pleasant surprise for local fans, as rookie quarterback Bo Nix managed to go his entire debut game without making a critical mistake.

Broncos fans hope that will continue into Week 2 of the preseason, but the entire roster isn’t as assured of a spot on the team all season long.

Here are two players that are quite likely to be traded this season.

    Samaje Perine, RB

Samaje Perine became a local legend last season after repeatedly helping to bail out Russell Wilson in final drive situations. After hours of offensive struggles, Wilson won multiple games by repeatedly dumping the ball down to Perine, who managed to deliver some first downs in key spots. However, before last year, Perine worked as a fringe running back legendary to few, if any, fans.

This season, Perine will emerge as just another back in the Broncos offense.

Meanwhile, younger running back Jaleel McLaughlin has showed poise and spark in the backfield. Sean Payton has reason to make a swap on the depth chart and, in the process, sell Perine for a decent return for his investment. To many other teams, Perine will market like a hero that the Broncos are mysteriously opting to trade away.

After failing to return an investment on the Wilson trade, at least one general manager will make the calculation that they can get a similar win for a Perine deal. Whether Perine’s next team or Denver wins the trade is up in the air. However, Perine could be on the move this season either way.

    Zach Wilson, QB

Zach Wilson came in by trade, but he could leave just as fast.

Before the Broncos made the move for Zach Wilson, it was unclear who the savior of the Broncos would be this year. Now, it is clear that it will be either Nix or Jarrett Stidham.

Wilson, who started most of the season last year, has too much experience to work as a third-string quarterback for long. As such, Denver is likely to elect to make a draft capital gain over stockpiling a second-string quarterback in the emergency backup spot.

If Wilson puts out good tape this preseason, his exit is even more likely by building his trade value. With Payton clearly favoring Stidham over Wilson, Wilson likely would be the first to leave between the two.
