The biggest story involving the Dallas Cowboys right now is the status of star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Lamb has yet to report to training camp, as he waits for the team to give him a new contract. While he isn’t there in person, star edge rusher Micah Parsons revealed that Lamb is paying attention to what is going on.

CeeDee Lamb reached out to Parsons, commenting on how well he has been performing at practice after watching clips on his tablet. The level of performance on defense would certainly change if they had to go up against the team’s No. 1 receiver in drills.

With his holdout reaching 21 days, it is anyone’s guess as to when Lamb will report to the team. Micah Parsons believes that a deal will get done between the two sides soon.

Entering the final year of his rookie contract, CeeDee Lamb is set to make $17.99 million. The Cowboys have presented his representation with proposals, but there is still work to be done to get to a number both sides are comfortable with.

Lamb wants to become one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson set that precedent when he signed an extension that made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league.

That is a number the Cowboys’ star wide receiver wants to meet as well. But, to this point, Dallas has not budged on their stance. Despite that, Micah Parsons believes that Lamb will join the rest of the team at camp soon.

“We have our talks, but at the end of the day, me and CeeDee and all of us, we kind of know what it is,” Parsons said . “CeeDee is a part of the brotherhood whether he likes it or not. He knows he’s not going nowhere. The business side, they going to take care of him. … But obviously, we miss him. I mean, he’s one of the best people you can have in a locker room, and I’m pretty sure he’ll be here soon, because no doubt about it, Week 1, he will be suited up for the Dallas Cowboys.”

With more than $1 million in fines, these contract negotiations have become costly for CeeDee Lamb. He also skipped mandatory minicamp back in May and has not participated in any of the offseason programs.

Despite his absence, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is confident that Lamb will be ready to go whenever it is that he returns.

“CeeDee’s going to be ready,” offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said. “Again if the system was different, that always adds different challenges. He knows what we do. He and Dak [Prescott] have what I would say are 1,000 or 10,000 banked reps together. And one thing I know about him is he’s staying ready. A younger player, [there would be worry] because the system is new or different. … There’s wrinkles that he’ll have to pick up on, but his [football intelligence] is unbelievable.”
