Buffalo Bills Fans Won’t Like This AFC East Prediction

The national topics surrounding the Buffalo Bills center on the loss of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. With the two receivers out the door, can Josh Allen lead the team on his own?

One NFL analyst believes that the answer is no. That is, at least not to the level that Bills fans may hope.

Writing in an article for Bleacher Report, NFL analyst Maurice Moton predicted the Bills to finish in third place in the AFC East at 9-8.

“As Josh Allen builds connections with his new receivers and stronger ones with familiar faces, he may play a little more hero ball than the Bills would like to see, which could cost them some games. Yet he’s talented enough to get hot and go on a run similar to last season. Despite key departures on defense, head coach Sean McDermott maintains a top-tier unit to help out an offense that may struggle in spots,” he wrote.

Moton predicted the Jets to finish in second place and the Dolphins to finish in first place. The Jets finish 10-7 in a franchise-altering turn of events in comparison to the last decade. The Dolphins finish 11-6 in a massive reshuffling at the top of the AFC East. The Patriots finish in last place at 3-14 as a consolation prize for Bills fans.

Bills fans given sliver of hope hidden in Stefon Diggs’ exit

Of course, finishing at 9-8 isn’t the end of the world in comparison to several NFL franchises. In some instances, fans would love to trade places with the Bills. However, for a team that had been sold as a contender on a perennial basis, a return to a nine-win unit would be a slap in the face.

However, losing Diggs and Davis might be overblown by the national media. Last year, Diggs totaled just roughly 1100 yards and failed to reach 100 yards in the final 11 games of the season.

If that is the bar to match or beat, the Bills seemingly have as good of a shot as anyone to furnish such a receiver.

The hope is that rookie Keon Coleman can elevate into a similar role this year, effectively treading water at the top of the position. If the wide receiver room can keep a similar level of strength, then Allen might find himself in more shootouts this year, but much more equipped to win them than otherwise advertised.
