The Buffalo Bills are in serious need of help in the wide receiver department after losing both Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason, but the answer may already be on their roster.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox has named rookie wide out Keon Coleman the Bills’ biggest X-factor heading into 2024, citing that quarterback Josh Allen may end up leaning on the first-year pass-catcher.

“The Bills reloaded their receiving corps with complementary veterans like Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins, but they’ll likely be counting on rookie second-round pick Keon Coleman to emerge as their new No. 1 target,” Knox wrote . ” … Coleman’s level of development and production could mean the difference between Buffalo having a good offense in 2024 and a great one.”

Buffalo’s No. 1 receiver going into the season will probably be Khalil Shakir, who served as the club’s third receiver behind Diggs and Davis last year. Plus, the Bills have a couple of impressive tight ends in Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox.

However, Buffalo will unquestionably need to get some production elsewhere, and Coleman may very well be able to provide it.

The 21-year-old began his collegiate career at Michigan State and played two seasons for the Spartans, with his best campaign coming in 2022 when he hauled in 58 receptions for 798 yards and seven touchdowns.

Coleman then transferred to Florida State, where he spent one year and caught 50 passes for 658 yards and 11 scores.

The Bills selected Coleman in the second round of the NFL Draft in April.

Can the Bills rebound from a rough offseason?

Diggs and Davis weren’t the only pieces Buffalo lost this offseason. The Bills were forced to part ways with a plethora of key players on both sides of the ball, putting their run of four straight AFC East division titles in serious jeopardy.

Many still like Buffalo to win the division thanks to the presence of Allen and a reliable running game that features breakout running back James Cook.

However, there is no question that the Bills will face a difficult road in 2024, especially with the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets both looking threatening.

We’ll see if Allen can rise to the occasion without Diggs and if the 6-foot-3 Coleman can step in and provide Allen with the dependable, big-bodied target he sorely needs.
