Tom Brady was drafted by the Montreal Expos

Can you imagine Tom Brady playing baseball instead of football? There was a real possibility that this could have happened early in his career just out of high school. Apparently, Brady was a slightly above-average catcher.

He was selected by the Montreal Expos in the 18th round of the draft after high school but thankfully for football fans, Brady decided to enroll in Michigan to focus on his football career instead.

He has a very strict diet and unusual workout

During his NFL career, Brady had quite a strict diet. He completely did away with food that contained sugar, dairy products, and even tomatoes. In fact, his personal chef has been on record to state that 80% of his diet consisted of only vegetables. He has even written a book about his diet called ‘The TB12 Method’.

As for his workout regime, Brady didn’t use weightlifting methods to strengthen his muscles. Instead, he believed in a different way one that involved increasing his flexibility using resistance bands.

He paid practice squad players to improve his game

Brady was known for his work ethic, continuous desire to get better, and for his relentless pursuit of perfection. In order to achieve greater things on the field, Brady has done some unthinkable things such as managing his diet, his workout routines, and more.

However, one of the great things he did to get better was to pay the practice squad players on the Patriots team so that they could intercept the ball when he threw it. This was his way of learning and getting better at understanding the defense.

He has punted in the NFL

Every once in a while coaches draw up trick plays where the quarterback is not the actual quarterback but has lined up as a receiver. So, there have been a few plays here and there where QBs have tried their hand at catching the ball.

With Brady however, he went as far as attempting three punts in his entire NFL career. Mind you, he did a fairly decent job as he belted them for 36,48, and 32 yards respectively.

His first punt was against the Miami Dolphins in a 2003 bad weather game. He then kicked his second punt after nearly nine years in a 2012 game against the Denver Broncos and then punted for one last time in 2014 against the Buffalo Bills.

Tom Brady has an uber-competitive nature

Tom Brady is quite literally the Michael Jordan of the NFL. While both athletes reigned supreme in their respective sports and will continue to be held as the Gold standard in their sports, the similarities between the two extend beyond the playing field or court.

Brady has been described by his teammates as being extremely competitive. His competitive nature knew no bounds as he has broken table tennis rackets, thrown backgammon boards across the room while losing, and more.

In fact, Brady doesn’t take anything for granted as he was even seen giving his teammates a pep-talk once for a charity game against a group of firefighters. Wonder what the scene would look like if Brady and Jordan got together for a competitive game.
