2 Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Football Sleepers For 2024

The Dallas Cowboys head into 2024 surrounded with uncertainty. With Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb neck deep in negotiations with Jerry Jones, the future of the team could look quite different over the next couple of seasons.

However, in most fantasy leagues, the question is whether the team can furnish any stars or sleepers right now for the 2024 season. Put simply, yes, there are two solid names to consider on the Cowboys.

    Royce Freeman, RB

The Cowboys’ third-string running back (per ESPN’s depth chart) is relatively unknown except to Broncos and Rams fans, who have watched him deliver a spark for the offense at random times over the years. Then, after providing the spark, he mysteriously returns to the shadows. However, in the case of Dallas, they might not have a choice but to give him a shot.

That’s because of Ezekiel Elliot. While Elliott’s return is a feel-good story for the team and fans to see one more rodeo with the dynamic duo, he is not in the same shape he once was. Last year, he served as a backup running back for the New England Patriots, failing to rip away the job from Rhamondre Stevenson by Week 1.

One way or another, the Cowboys will realize they can’t rely on Elliott to be the primary ball carrier anymore. That will open the door for Freeman to provide a spark for the offense. Right now, he is worth an early-season free-agent stash for managers.

    Brandin Cooks, WR

Brandin Cooks could very well be the team’s de facto No. 1 wide receiver this year, at least in Week 1. Cooks is slated to be the team’s second receiver, which normally would warrant some attention. However, after earning less than 700 receiving yards in each of the past two years, Cooks has gone under the radar this season.

That said, Cooks earned eight touchdowns in Mike McCarthy’s offense last season, setting the stage for a comeback in 2024. Of course, as McCarthy finalizes his offense with Lamb nowhere to be found, Cooks could see an early-season target boost to kick off the year in earnest.

In his career, Cooks has had six seasons of at least 1000 yards.
