Ben Roethlisberger is one of the finest quarterbacks to have played in the NFL and certainly a top two for the Steelers franchise. Drafted in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft, Roethlisberger spent all 18 seasons of his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The two-time Super Bowl champion had a legendary career that ended with just over 64,000 passing yards in the regular season and just under 6,000 in the postseason. He was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2004, a two-time NFL passing yards leader, and a six-time Pro Bowler.

Roethlisberger also holds some crucial NFL records such as the most 500-yard passing games with four, most completions in a game with 47, and most games with a perfect passer rating with four.

Although he played in many crucial games for the Steelers throughout his career, here we will take a look at five of his finest performances.

    1. Steelers vs. Colts – October 27, 2014

A monumental win for the Steelers as they put up 51 points against the Colts in this October 27, 2014 game. Leading 35-20 at the half, Pittsburgh didn’t allow Indianapolis back in the game winning by a final score of 51-34. Both quarterbacks had excellent games but Roethlisberger still managed to outplay his counterpart Andrew Luck.

Big Ben as he is fondly called, ended up with 522 yards, completing a whopping 40 of 49 passes that included six touchdowns and a near-perfect passer rating of 150.6.

    2. Steelers vs. Ravens – December 11, 2017

This 2017 game against the Ravens was one the Steelers fans will never forget. Trailing 31-20 at the end of three quarters, Roethlisberger went to work and put up 19 points in the fourth to eventually defeat the Ravens by the closest of margins 39-38.

Roethlisberger had a huge game completing 44 of his 66 attempted passes for a total of 506 yards. He had only two passing touchdowns and his passer rating was 99.7, but what made this game impressive was the big comeback against divisional opponents Baltimore.

    3. Steelers vs. Packers – December 21, 2009

This one was another close game between as the Steelers took on the Packers in 2009. The game ended with Pittsburgh winning 37-36 but the play of the game came with just 3 seconds left on the clock.

Roethlisberger taking the snap in shotgun at the Green Bay 19-yard line and trailing 36-30 on a third and ten sent the ball to the left sideline in the endzone which was caught for a touchdown as the time ran out. The ensuing extra-point kick gave the Steelers the win.

Big Ben’s performance of 503 yards and three touchdown passes with a 121.9 passer rating completely outshone Aaron Rodgers’ effort of 383 yards and three touchdowns.

    4. Steelers vs. Ravens – November 02, 2014

Big Ben had many impactful games against his AFC North rivals, the Ravens during his career. Even though he was sacked more than 60 times throughout his career by the Ravens, he also dished out punishment from his end.

In this November 2014 game, Pittsburgh took on Baltimore in a clash that ended up being an easy 43-23 victory for Roethlisberger and the Steelers. This was another fine performance by the former Steelers’ quarterback as he completed 25 of 37 passes for 340 yards. His 25 passes included six touchdowns and he ended the game with a nice passer rating of 136.3.

    5. Steelers vs. Ravens – November 06, 2007

Once again, Roethlisberger showed his prowess against the Ravens in this 2007 encounter. Normally the games between both these teams would be close affairs but this time the Steelers dominated from the start to take a commanding 38-7 victory.

This game was marred by heavy rain and the field was soaked. In these difficult conditions, it was extremely tough to get any momentum going let alone put points on the board. Nevertheless, Ben Roethlisberger went 13 for 16, which yielded 209 yards and five touchdown passes from those 13 completions. The cherry on the cake was a perfect passer rating of 158.3.
