2 Houston Texans Fantasy Football Sleepers For 2024

The Houston Texans are a massively different offense in 2024 than they were in 2022. Between the rise of CJ Stroud, the advent of Tank Dell, and the massive influx of talent in the 2024 off-season, there are no shortage of quality options in fantasy.

However, the key to fantasy isn’t just latching onto the most obvious choices.

Here’s a look at two key Texans players that could beat expectations this season.

    Robert Woods, WR

Robert Woods hasn’t had a 1000-yard season since 2019, but the wide receiver survived cutdown day. As such, there is hope for the former Rams star to see an elevation this year. He wasn’t in rough enough shape to see an exit in August, meaning that there is still some gas in the tank.

However, it appears he will need some help from any of the top receivers to get a big slice of action. That said, as a veteran, he has proven that he can handle the increase in targets in the past.

At this point, it might be a bit too early to stash him. Still, he’s worth keeping an eye on, and if Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins, or Dell suffer an injury, it will be worth throwing the Texans veteran on your bench so you’re ready if and when he pops.

    Joe Mixon, RB

In the slew of additions for the Texans, it appears that Joe Mixon is getting the least amount of hype. Diggs was a key face in Buffalo. Danielle Hunter racked up 16.5 sacks last season, and Stroud has been the center of the conversation. However, the former backbone of the Bengals’ rushing attack is now leading the backfield for the Texans.

Mixon has had some down years in which he has earned well under 1000 yards. But, he also has earned at least 1000 yards in four of the last six seasons. In turn, he has a high probability of being a starting running back for managers.

Of course, this isn’t a green light to dump the first possible pick on the running back. However, if he can be had for a second or third round selection, it might be worth “reaching” on him this season.

The Houston Texans have a complete offense, which might take a few carries away. But defenses will be stretched deep, so when Mixon does receive the football, he will have more open space ahead of him.
