This Raiders Playmaker May Provide Great Fantasy Football Value

The Las Vegas Raiders suffered a major loss during the 2024 NFL offseason when running back Josh Jacobs signed a free agent deal with the Green Bay Packers. Jacobs was a vocal point of the team’s offense since being a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

That is a sizable void that will now be filled, at least on early downs, but Zamir White. A fourth-round pick out of Georiga in the 2022 NFL Draft, he looked good last season when Jacobs was out of the lineup.

White appeared in all 17 games last season, making four starts and handling 104 carries. He turned that into 451 yards and one touchdown, adding 15 receptions for 98 yards.

With Jacobs no longer in the mix, White was a very popular selection in Fantasy Football drafts earlier in the offseason. He seemed to have a solid floor given the role he would hold in the Raiders’ offense.

However, as the offseason went on, his average draft position plummeted. Some people didn’t like how he was used during the preseason, as he was off the field for virtually all of the third downs.

Free agent addition Alexander Mattison also spelled him at points on early downs. That led to people panic selling, which has turned White into a player with great value heading into Week 1 of the regular season.

“Once you get into the 20s at running back, there ain’t a guy on the board who doesn’t have considerable risk. But the later fantasy drafters can land a legitimate lead back, the more they can blast away at other positions without creating a massive hole in the backfield,” wrote Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report.

Anyone who paid attention to the Las Vegas Raiders last season knew that an every down, workhorse opportunity wasn’t coming for White. He was rarely on the field in passing situations last season, so this is nothing new.

But, savvy Fantasy Football owners can now take advantage of his drop in value. Selecting fringe RB2/Flex guys who have a bonafide role in the offense is what helps you win your leagues.
