Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Reveals Bold Take On Chiefs Matchup

    By Matthew Schmidt,

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game last winter, dropping Jackson’s record to 1-4 against Patrick Mahomes and Co.

Last year’s loss certainly hurt the most, as it marked the first time that the Ravens played the Chiefs in the playoffs. Plus, the game was very winnable, and Baltimore was probably a couple of key mistakes away from punching its ticket to the Super Bowl.

Well, the Ravens will have their chance for a get-back on Thursday night, as Baltimore will face Kansas City in the season opener.

However, Jackson is not necessarily viewing this particular matchup as a revenge game.

“Any game I play in, I feel like it’s a revenge game,” Jackson said, via Clifton Brown of the Ravens’ team website. “I’m not just going to look at this game like a revenge game. Anybody we play, no matter if we’ve beaten them or lost to them in previous years, I just want to win.”

As always, Jackson did a phenomenal job of not providing his opponent with any bulletin board material and also not giving the media an explosive quote.

Will the Baltimore Ravens be able to turn the tables on the Kansas City Chiefs?

Mahomes has definitely had Jackson’s number thus far, but it’s also a team effort.

Back in January, the game was actually very defensive, with the Chiefs coming away with a 17-14 win. Baltimore’s defense held Kansas City scoreless in the second half, but Jackson and the Ravens’ offense were not able to capitalize.

There were various factors at play in Baltimore’s loss. Jackson made some poor decisions, the team committed some costly penalties and Zay Flowers’ pivotal fumble did not help matters, either.

This time around, there will be far less at stake for the Ravens: it’s only Week 1, and they will live to play another day if they lose.

However, there is no question that this game holds some significance to a Baltimore squad that really needs to prove it can beat the Chiefs, especially at Arrowhead Stadium.

We’ll see if Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens can turn the tables on the Chiefs this Thursday. Then we’ll see if they can actually beat Kansas City in the postseason.
