2 Detroit Lions Fantasy Football Sleepers For 2024

The Detroit Lions historically have been a team to be skipped over in Fantasy Football. However, in 2024, there are several solid options for the team. Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown are two obvious pickups, but what about players who are running under the radar?

Here are two Lions players worth ignoring the projections with.

    Jameson Williams, WR

St. Brown got paid big bucks this off-season, giving him plenty of reason to let his foot off the gas pedal. Jameson Williams, however, is as hungry as ever entering the third year of his rookie deal. With the end of his rookie contract somewhat in sight, it falls on him to deliver this season. He will be the Lions’ second receiver this year, so he will get plenty of opportunities by default.

Last season, Williams earned about 354 yards and two touchdowns. However, most solid number-two receivers earn at least 800 yards per season. With the Lions riding high on offense, Williams should be able to eat on plays in which other positions are soaking up the aggro.

    Jahmyr Gibbs, RB

Some are writing off Jahmyr Gibbs because he is listed as the second running back on the team’s ESPN depth chart . Many more are writing him off because he is questionable coming into the season. However, head coach Dan Campbell gave reason to believe Gibbs’ health is not a concern for Week 1, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press .

As such, if he is healthy by Week 1, he can’t then be hurt later on unless something new develops. Ergo, ignore the questionable tag and take the plunge if you can get even a one-round discount on him.

Gibbs was a first-round pick last year and thus appears to be on deck to eventually become the Lions’ starting running back, creating plenty of upside for him.

Currently, running back David Montgomery is slated to be Detroit’s No. 1 back this year. However, no player’s contract dictates where they will be used on the depth chart. In other words, Gibbs could overtake Montgomery at any time. Of course, Montgomery racked up 13 rushing touchdowns last year, so the wait could be at least six weeks before the Detroit Lions give up on him.

Still, with only four receivers available to start the season, Gibbs will get plenty of run either way.
