Miami Dolphins Reveal Major Injury Update On WR Tyreek Hill

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill had been dealing with a thumb injury that put his status for the team’s Week 1 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars in question, but the Dolphins have just revealed some very positive news on that front.

Miami’s injury report for the season opener has been released, and Hill was not on it, via David Furones of The Sun Sentinel.

Obviously, this means Hill is good to go for Sunday.

This is enormous news for a Dolphins offense that relies heavily on Hill. Last season, he hauled in 119 receptions while leading the NFL in both receiving yards (1,799) and receiving touchdowns (13).

It was Hill’s second year in South Beach after coming over in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. Hill’s debut campaign with the Dolphins was very similar to last year, as he caught 119 passes for 1,710 yards and seven scores that season.

Hill and Jaylen Waddle comprise one of the best receiver duos in football and have made life much easier for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who secured a massive contract extension this offseason.

Can the Miami Dolphins make a deep playoff run in 2024?

The Dolphins looked dominant in the early stages of 2023, but they faded down the stretch, blowing a three-game lead over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East and then losing to the Chiefs in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Miami has not won a playoff game since January 2001, which represents the longest active drought in football.

But can things be different for the Dolphins this year?

It’s going to take a monumental effort from Tagovailoa, who went just 1-7 against teams with winning records—including playoffs—last season and has historically struggled in cooler weather.

He will definitely need both Hill and Waddle to stay on the field, and Miami will also have to put forth a more consistent effort defensively.

Given how many pieces the Dolphins lost on the defensive side of the ball this offseason and how key pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips are still recovering from major injuries, Miami may struggle in that area in 2024.

We’ll see if Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins can make significant progress this season.
