CARLISLE, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Nicholas County Schools has addressed families after a “racially directed” post began to circulate throughout the community.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nicholas County Schools Superintendent Doug Bechanan released a statement regarding the post on Facebook.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The Nicholas County School District is deeply saddened and troubled regarding a recent racially directed social media post. While this originated outside our organization, let us be clear, racism has no place in our schools or community, and we will continually condemn any form of hate directed to our staff or students.

Our dedicated staff works hard every day to provide a loving, safe, and supportive environment for all our students. As school is about to begin, may we be unified as we seek to accomplish this goal.

FOX 56 reached out to Bechanan for more information, but he declined to make further comments.
