I am a parent who has been personally affected by the actions of the Reynolds/Iron County Children's Division. They took my son from me and are now moving towards adoption without providing me with a fair chance to prove my capability as a parent. This is not just about one case, but about numerous instances where families have been torn apart due to coercion, manipulation, kidnapping and unethical behaviors by this division. The pain of losing your child under questionable circumstances is unbearable and it is time that we demand transparency and accountability from those in power. We need an independent investigation into their practices to ensure that they are acting in the best interests of children and families. According to data from the U.S Department of Health & Human Services, as many as 20% of children placed in foster care should not have been removed from their homes in the first place (U.S Department of Health & Human Services). This statistic raises serious concerns about potential misconduct within child protective services across the country, including our own Reynolds/Iron County Children's Division. We cannot stand by while families are being unjustly separated. It is time for us to take action against these injustices.
