New addition in Sturgis City Park
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The city park in Sturgis has a new addition that is both entertaining and beneficial for developing minds. The park’s new interactive drum set is a great addition, designed to help children enhance their sensory, motor, cognitive, and emotional skills. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Rotary Club, enough money was raised to purchase the equipment. The city took the initiative to install it in the city park near the playground.
Sunshine Returns for the Middle of the Week
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Tonight, those storms we saw this afternoon and all of our cloud coverage gets out of the area and we see mostly clear skies. Temperatures likely fall into the 50s for overnight lows. Tomorrow, we are going to be seeing 80s once again by the afternoon with plenty of sunshine to go around. Completely to mostly sunny skies are likely tomorrow. Futurecast is showing that we are seeing sunshine take over for tomorrow, but a few storms may fire up near the Nebraskan border. Wednesday we continue our sunny trend with lots of sun to go around. Thursday, the trend continues again with sunshine likely to start us off in the morning. Temperatures overnight tonight will slowly creep into the upper 50s with clearing skies. Storms will end before the sun sets and we will transition over into mostly sunny skies during the day tomorrow. Temperatures make it into the 70s and 80s by tomorrow afternoon with 70s generally limited to the Black Hills. The foothills and Plains are likely getting into the 80s for highs tomorrow. Belle Fourche one of the warmer spots in the upper 80s. The next three days in NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills shows that we are seeing sunshine returning for all through Thursday. 80s are likely for everyone on Wednesday but back into the 70s for Thursday. Rapid City seeing the warmest day of the week on Wednesday where upper 80s are possible with temperatures cooling back into the upper 70s on Thursday. More thunderstorms are on the horizon with Friday through Sunday posing a chance for some of those storms. We cool off for next week when partly cloudy skies settle in.
Beloved rocket ship touches back down to Evans Park after more than a year
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - After more than a year and a half, one Black Hills park has gotten its beloved play structure back. Evans Park in Spearfish, also fondly known to the public as “rocket ship park,” officially reopened to the public Monday night. For those unfamiliar with Rocket Ship Park and its history, the steel Rocket Ship slide was donated to the city more than 30 years ago by the Parker family who wanted to honor their son who passed away at a young age.

AMA Pro Racing conduct test in Sturgis for street course use for upcoming race
STURGIS, S.D.(KBHB) – Officials with A.M.A. Pro Racing and the City of Sturgis conducted a test of the street course for the upcoming Sturgis TT Race Tuesday morning. Storms Taper Off Tonight, Another Storm Chance to End the Week
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Overnight, storms will start to clear out of the area by midnight with temperatures making it into the 40s and 50s across the area. Rapid City likely will see the 50s. Tomorrow, we start out with sunshine in the morning as we start to see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day. It will be an absolutely perfect day to go out and walk the dog with the combination of sunshine, clouds and temperatures in the 60s for highs. Futurecast is showing that a few clouds are possible across the area throughout the day tomorrow. Then some moisture develops overnight Thursday and into Friday with some more thunderstorms possible into the afternoon on Friday. Overnight tonight, temperatures make it into the 40s and 50s across the area. We will continue to deal with thunderstorms early on and then we will start to clear out by the time we get to the morning. Tomorrow, we start out mostly sunny and then we will be mostly to partly sunny throughout the rest of the day. Temperatures are on the cooler side compared to what we saw today. 60s and a few 70s are likely. The next three days in NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills shows that we are seeing some more chances of storms in Deadwood and Spearfish on Friday. Rapid City seeing storm chances for Friday and Sunday with temperatures fluctuating between the 60s tomorrow and Friday into the 70s and 80s into next week.
