Sugaring NYC, an organic wax and lash studio franchise , is growing its presence in New Jersey with a new location in Bergen County.

Located at 500 S. River St. in Hackensack, the concept offers a less painful and irritating alternative to traditional body waxing, known as sugar waxing.

As part of the hair removal process, Sugaring NYC uses sugar paste a 100% natural product made from sugar, lemon and water. The wax is applied at room temperature. It is gentler on the skin, provides long-lasting smoothness and exfoliates without the harsh chemicals found in traditional waxes, according to the company.

In addition to waxing services, Sugaring NYC’s licensed estheticians provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments, including lash lifting and brow laminating.

Fredon native Jill Caiola owns and operates the studio in Hackensack. The shop held its grand opening Aug. 7 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor John Labrosse and Councilman Gerard Carroll.

Founded in 2014, Sugaring NYC now has more than 100 units open nationwide . Within New Jersey, the franchise has locations in Bloomfield, Ridgewood and Westfield. It also has studios coming soon in Ridgefield, Newark and Millburn.

Sugaring NYC in Hackensack is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
