Olney’s Lee Flips Wood to Win Phoenix Bass Fishing League Event at Lake Shelbyville
SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (May 20, 2024) – Boater Jeffrey Lee of Olney, Illinois, caught a five-bass limit weighing 13 pounds, 4 ounces, Saturday to win the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Presented by T-H Marine on Lake Shelbyville . The tournament was the first event of the season for the BFL Illini Division. Lee earned $3,289 for his victory.
OCC/OAC SUMMER CHILDREN’S THEATER WORKSHOP PERFORMANCES THIS WEEKEND
(OLNEY) All are invited to one of the upcoming two performances this weekend of the Olney Central College / Olney Arts Council Summer Children’s Theater Workshop students who have spent the past several weeks on the stage. The shows will be this Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday afternoon at 2:00, both at the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center at OCC. Tickets for either show are available on the iecc.edu/occ/theater website.
ANNUAL PARKERSBURG CHOWDER THIS WEEKEND
(PARKERSBURG) The Annual Parkersburg Chowder is coming up this Saturday at the Community Building and Park in Parkersburg. The popular Tractor Display will be set up and open at 10:00 and with approximately 800 gallons to be prepared, the chowder will be served by the bowl, by carryout, or by using drive thru lane, starting at 10:30 that morning, plus there will be other food available, including pork barbeque, salads, pies, and cakes. With lineup for the Annual Parade at 12:45 at the Christian Church, it will kick off at 1:00, led by this year’s Grand Marshalls, the children of August and Norma Jean Pampe. All proceeds go to support the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg. All ages are welcome.
