Danny Caputo Commits to Southern Maine
An '03 from Lanoka Harbor, NJ, Caputo played in 68 Eastern Hockey League (EHL) games over the course of two seasons. In the 2022-23 season, he began with the New Jersey 87's, recording a goal and two assists in 14 games. He then moved to the Connecticut Chiefs, where he recorded a goal and six assists in 17 games. This past year, he captained the Boston Jr. Terriers, playing 37 games and recording three goals and nine assists to his credit.

Now we are wondering when it’ll rain; all our plants are withering! Oh well, let’s just be thankful that we are not roasting like most of the country. OK, yea, I know it’s hot – hot for here, but really not unbearable, and be thankful we have the beautiful waterfront outside our door! There are blessings.

Skowhegan tops 36ers in American Legion Southern Zone championship
The Boothbay 36ers may be down, but they are not out of the Maine State American Legion tournament. Skowhegan defeated Boothbay, 4-3, on July 22 in the Maine State American Legion Senior Baseball tournament. Skowhegan earns the No. 1 south seed in this weekend’s state tournament in Bangor. Boothbay will be the No. 2 south seed. The 36ers will play at 4:30 p.m. on July 27 at Mansfield Stadium. Each of the four state tournament participants also play a Sunday game.

One way to deal with all the debris from our winter storms is to have a ‘pick up’ party, which is what the Horn Cove residents did last Saturday. They gathered chain saws and other implements to cut up and carry away the unwanted presents the storm deposited on the beach. Then they lit a bonfire with all the wood, followed by a picnic supper. CMT stages tribute to Dominic Garvey in ‘Dominic’s Diner’
Carousel Music Theater (CMT) is staging “Dominic’s Diner” an hour-long tribute to Boothbay Harbor’s Dominic Garvey (1936-2015), written, directed and choreographed by Michelle Brucker. “I worked with him, from 1990-1991, and his loving guidance helped me reach my career goals. Dominic taught me so much, this show is a love letter dedicated to his memory,” she said.

The July 17 benefit show for the Ed and Candie Crocker family featuring “American Idol” top 7 performer Julia Gagnon was a success beyond belief. Folks attending were treated to her unbelievable singing and original songs created by both Julia and her fiancé Nate. The Crockers lost their Edgecomb home to a fire on June 3.
