Water Restrictions Extended in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties
As the Tampa Bay region continues to experience drier-than-normal weather conditions, residents will continue to only be allowed to irrigate their lawns once-a-week. The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) is extending the watering restrictions in place for Hillsborough County, Pasco County, and Pinellas County until September 1, 2024. Officially referred to as the “Modified Phase 1 Water Shortage Order,” the once-a-week watering restrictions initially went into effect on December 1, 2023.
Colombian Man Sentenced to 15 Years for High Seas Cocaine Smuggling
TAMPA, Fla. – U.S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday sentenced Jhon Zambrano Caicedo (37, Colombia) to 15 years and 8 months in federal prison for conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine on a vessel subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. He entered a guilty plea in March 2024.

New animal rescue to open in Pinellas Park
PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A new animal shelter is opening in Pinellas Park on July 9. It's called FLUFF Animal Rescue. Founder and CEO Kimmy Chandler said they’ll be focusing on bringing in dogs and cats that would be euthanized at other shelters and then help to find them homes.
