NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A shed at the Nolensville Baseball fields caught fire early Thursday morning, destroying all of the Nolensville Youth Softball league’s equipment.

Nolensville Youth Softball said on their Facebook page that the fire started at around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, July 4, and that the shed housing all of the league’s equipment is a total loss.

“We lost dozens upon dozens of softballs; we lost pitching machines; we lost catcher’s gear,” Nolensville Softball board member Ben Chipkevich told News 2. “All of the team gear was in the shed ready to be distributed for the fall season.”

Authorities are investigating to rule out any foul play, adding there were a lot of spent fireworks in the area.

Nolensville Fire & Rescue is asking anyone with information or camera footage of the ball fields from overnight to call their fire marshal’s office at 615-900-5344 .

“They noted there were firework remains left around the scene,” fire marshal Matthew Lupo said. “They notified me. I came out and basically began an investigation on it.”

“It really hurts me, honestly,” player Mary Hayes Chipkevich said. “Because I feel like there are so many young girls and girls like me who just want to play.”

On Friday, it was announced that a GoFundMe was set up to help gather the necessary funds to replace all the equipment that was lost. You can find a link to that GoFundMe here.
