Spelman alum and Camp HBCYouth’s Reagan Fresnel is exposing kids to HBCUs early
Reagan Fresnel, a Spelman University alumna, founded Camp HBCYouth, a summer day camp designed to educate minority youth based on the principles and values of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Recognizing the importance of early exposure to HBCUs, Fresnel created a program that combines education with fun. On June 28, Camp HBCYouth held their field day at Morehouse College, with the A.J. Terrell Foundation and Amazon Access partnering in support of the event.

AT&T opens Connected Learning Center near Atlanta University Center
ATLANTA - A new Connected Learning Center is now open near the Atlanta University Center. The center is located off Peeples Street and was established by AT&T. This space will provide free access to digital resources for the John H. Harland branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, including high-speed internet, Wi-Fi, and new computers.
Odyssey of the Mind: Creativity leads Buford kids to World Finals
At Cherokee Bluff High School, students from Buford Senior Academy gathered with their balsa wood structure and costumes waiting to see if months of hard work would pay off. Grant aims to make HBCUs more competitive in research ecosystem
For Fiscal Year 2022, a federal report found that when it came to how much money universities nationwide spent on research, Morehouse School of Medicine ranked 227th, Clark Atlanta University ranked 364th, Morehouse College ranked 417th, and Spelman ranked 517th. Howard University appeared to spend the most on research among all HBCUs, ranking 186th.
