The 2024 Georgia High School Association football season is just over a month away and when teams return to summer workouts after dead week, it will be full steam ahead as they will resume preparing for the 2024 campaign. For Norcross quarterback, Dillon Mohammed, “chemistry” is an area of focus for the signal caller as he works to help lead the Norcross offense this season.

“Making sure we all know what we’re doing, we all know what the plays are even if someone’s out, the next person is ready to step in,” Mohammed said when discussing working with his teammate this past spring and throughout summer under center, which he noted as a good challenge to show he has the ability to be “a leader and make sure everything’s running smoothly,” Mohammed added.

And now with the opportunity to step and lead the Blue Devils’ offense, the 2025 QB credited being able to play behind and learn from last year’s starter, AJ Watkins in helping being ready to step up to the challenge. “He’s a great leader so I just took some things that he taught me the past couple of years and used them,” Mohammed said, also thanking Norcross head coach, Keith Maloof for having confidence in his ability to step in.

“It’s a great feeling and I’m always ready. Last year I good some good experience so this year I came in very comfortable, especially in the spring game, everything just felt normal and it was great, so thank you to the coaches because they didn’t have to let me play last year, but they did, Mohammed said expressing his gratitude for the opportunity ahead of him this season. Norcross will open up their season on August 16 at Lanier, who are coached by Coach Maloof’s son Tyler Maloof.
