    Norfolk authorities recover body of 29-year-old after swimmer goes underwater

    NORFOLK, Neb. (KCAU) — Authorities in Norfolk recovered the body of a man after responding to a call of a missing swimmer in a lake Sunday night.

    According to a release from the Norfolk Police Division, officers and Norfolk Fire and Rescue responded to a missing swimmer at a private lake Sunday at 5:53 p.m. The incident took place in the 2500 block of South 13th Street. Norfolk Rescue called in their water rescue team.

    Three witnesses told authorities that a male was swimming in the lake, went under the water, and did not resurface.

    Authorities recovered the body of a 29-year-old male at 7:14 p.m.

    The police division is investigating the incident.

    Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Battle Creek Fire & Rescue, and Hadar Fire & Rescue provided mutual aid in Norfolk during the search and recovery operation
