NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — It was a second day of headaches for passengers at Norfolk International Airport as many of their flights were either canceled or delayed following Friday’s major IT outage.

According to the airport’s website, about nine departure flights and 15 arrivals were either canceled or delayed on Saturday.

One traveler, Judy Gerber, told 10 On Your Side that she’s frustrated with the whole situation.

“We were supposed to fly out of Norfolk yesterday to go back to Orlando at around 8 and first they told us it was delayed until about 8:13 and then we were sitting here waiting, and then they said it was delayed until after midnight and we waited and waited and then it was just cancelled, so that was it,” Gerber said.

While she flew with Spirit Airlines, Delta was the main airline still struggling.

The airline posted on X and said in part, “Delta teams in airports, on board flights, on the phones and in messaging are working tirelessly to care for customers as the airline works to put flight crews and aircraft back in position following the disruption.”

Kelvin Blount was one of the airline’s passengers.

He said his flight was delayed because of the outage, and then it was completely canceled because of bad weather.

“So I don’t know when I could pick up a flight to get to my destination, at least not until maybe Monday afternoon,” Blount said.

Blount said he felt more or less stranded.

“I checked out of my hotel and I returned my rental car and now I’m stuck here,” he said, “I’ve never experienced something like this in my life. And it’s uh — it’s not fun at all, really.”

We caught up with another Delta passengers whose flight to Atlanta was cancelled.

“I was supposed to be leaving at 3, but they eventually ended up canceling my flight and they got me rerouted on a flight that leaves out at 8:46 but I still have my doubts about that one as well,” he said.

However, he said the meal vouchers helped a little bit.

“Thank God because that’s what’s been getting me through today.”

Gov. Glenn Youngkin took to X saying “The Commonwealth is continuing to work on ongoing tech outages.”
